Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, meet & greet by your driver-guide and proceed to accommodation about 7 minutes away.

Dinner and Overnight at Airport Link Guest House (Full Board).

Day 02: Bird Mabamba Wetland Then Transfer to Kibale Forest NP

After an early breakfast, we will head out to the Mabamba Wetlands on the shores of Lake Victoria. This is one of the few remaining swamps in the country protected by the local communities.  It is an extensive papyrus swamp, with a labyrinth of channels and lagoons, and is home to several pairs of Shoebills, Uganda’s most famous avian resident. This charismatic monotypic species is certainly among the most sought-after birds in Africa, and we’ll make special efforts today to find it. There will of course be a good selection of classic East African water birds to look out for like Pink-backed Pelican, Long-tailed Cormorant, Squacco Heron, Yellow-billed Duck, Malachite Kingfisher, Long-toed Plover, Blue-headed Coucal, Blue-breasted Bee-eater among others.

We will have lunch at Nkima Lodge then head to Chimpanzee Guest House where we will be spending a night. This drive will give you views of some primates like Olive Baboons, Black and White Colobus Monkeys, Red-tailed Monkeys, and if lucky Uganda Mangabey.

Day 03: Chimp walk and Bigodi Community Walk

After an early breakfast, drive to Kanyanchu visitors center where you will be briefed before heading out to look for your distant cousin (Chimpanzee). Look out for other Primates like Uganda Red Colobus, Black and white Colobus, Uganda Mangabey, Olive Baboon, Red-tailed Monkey, and L’Hoest’s Monkey among others.

Lunch and then go for a community walk and experience the way of lives of the indigenous tribe the Batoro like how they used to smelt iron, share knowledge about traditional medicines, basket weaving, to mention but a few.

Day 04: Bird Bigodi and then transfer to QENP

After breakfast, proceed to bird the Bigodi swamp, lunch, and then bird as you head towards Queen Elizabeth National Park driving along the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains crossing the Equator. Game drive en-route to accommodation where you will be spending your nights. The park, which is named after Queen Elizabeth who visited it in 1954, is the second-largest national park in Uganda, and ranks highest with respect to overall diversity, with a bird species list exceeding 600. The park has a mosaic of habitats from the moist forest at Imarabigambo to wild savannah excellent for Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Hyenas, Ugandan Kobs, Baboons, Giant Hogs, and Warthog among others. Look out for birds like White-spotted Flufftail, Yellow-billed Barbet, African Emerald Cuckoo, Kingfishers, Lesser Striped Swallow, Cisticolas, Shrikes, Starlings, Widowbirds among other birds.

Day 05: Game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park and Boat

Breakfast and with packed lunch head out for safari looking out for game like Uganda Kob, Bushbuck, Defassa Waterbuck, Buffaloes, Elephants, Warthog, when lucky a leopard, spotted Hyena and Lion among others. Lunch and thereafter, an afternoon 2-hour boat ride on the Kazinga Channel and see more wildlife.

Day 06: Transfer to Bwindi

After breakfast with your packed lunch, start your journey to Bwindi via Ishaka-Ntungamo and Kabale getting to the Rushaga sector in the late afternoon.

Day 07: Gorilla Trekking

Gorilla tracking at 8:00 a.m. in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. While this is a very challenging walk, it is surely one of the highlights of a trip to Uganda and possibly one of the all-time nature highlights of our travelers’ lives. Gorilla permits are strictly limited in order to protect these cousins of ours. Each group is limited to eight participants at a time. We recommend you to wear good walking boots/shoes and carry good rain gear and enough drinking water. Trekking can be tough and challenging and so we trust you are in a reasonably fit condition. You will carry a picnic lunch with you into the forest and you will be thrilled to have seen these rare primates (no guarantee). The return journey could be easier!

Day 08: Nature Walk and Community walk

After breakfast, head out for a nature walk in Bwindi and see lots of plant life, primates, and magnificent waterfalls.

In the afternoon, you will go for a village/ community walk/Batwa walk to experience the way of life of the indigenous people. Activities to enjoy include hunting, making fire using forest materials, beekeeping, cultural dance, among others.

After an early breakfast, we will bird along the forest looking out for birds like Tinkerbirds and Barbets, Woodpeckers, Greenbuls, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Mountain Masked Apalis, Bocage’s Bush-shrike, Luhder’s Bush-shrike, Pink-footed Puffback, Petit’s Cuckooshrike, Starlings, Sunbirds, Black-billed Weaver, Brown-capped Weaver, among other birds.

Day 09: Transfer to Lake Mburo

After breakfast with your packed lunch, transfer to Lake Mburo National Park getting there in the late afternoon. This is a very scenic route with winding roads that will take you through spectacular hills with beautiful land terraces.

Day 10: Game Drive in Lake Mburo National Park and Boat Ride

This is one of the small National Parks in Uganda covering 260 sq. km but still special in its own way.

Lake Mburo National Park is home to 320 bird species and 68 mammal species. After Breakfast head out for a game drive and look out for animals like the gorgeous Eland, Zebra, Impala, Buffalo, Reedbuck, Topi, Waterbuck Bushbuck, Hippos, Oribi, Bush-duiker, and others. Head back to the Lodge for lunch and then go for the boat ride on Lake Mburo where you will be able to view more wildlife.

Day 11: Departure Preferably an Evening Flight.

Today we transfer to Entebbe International Airport in time for your flight (Evening Flight recommended).
